Deluxe Golden Circle &
Top of the World

Alaska and the Yukon. Few places have the power to invoke such strong images of vast, unpopulated wilderness, pioneering gold seekers, abundant wildlife and fascinating native cultures.  The Golden Circle gets its name from the common thread that binds the region...gold! The discovery of gold in this area led to the development and establishment of the communities located along the route. Each community has grown and diversified over the past 100 years, but it was the lure of gold that sparked the spirit of discovery.  Now you can discover this unique part of Alaska and Canada for yourself!

Day One - SKAGWAY
Meet in Skagway, the birthplace of the Klondike Gold Rush.  A "welcome" dinner will give you the chance to get to know your fellow travelers.  "The Days of '98" recreates the life of Alaska's most notorious con-man, Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, who reigned over Skagway during the wild days of the Klondike Gold Rush.

Day Two - WHITEHORSE in the YUKON TERRITORY
We'll enjoy a delicious breakfast at our B&B, then board the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad.  Built in 1898, this narrow gauge railroad is a historic landmark that will take you past mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels and trestles in the comfort of vintage parlor cars.  You'll disembark in Fraser, British Columbia, and complete the trip into the Yukon in a deluxe passenger coach.

Day Three - WHITEHORSE
After breakfast on your own, we'll take a scenic cruise on the Yukon River; the rest of the day is yours for discovery!

Day Four - DAWSON CITY
Today features the scenic drive to Dawson City.  Following the historic discovery of gold on Bonanza Creek in August of 1896, Dawson City grew out of a marshy swamp near the confluence of the Yukon and Klondike Rivers.  In two years it became the largest city in Canada west of Winnipeg with a population that fluctuated between 30,000 and 40,000 people--not as large as Seattle, but much larger than Victoria or Vancouver.  It was dubbed the "Paris of the North."

Here we will visit the Jack London Cabin, and enjoy dinner and entertainment at "Diamond Tooth Gerties," Canada's first and most unique casino.

Day Five - TOP OF THE WORLD HIGHWAY to TOK
It only takes a few miles climbing out of Dawson City to realize where the name of this road comes from. For much of the 79 miles between Dawson and the Alaska border, it wanders around the high points of a series of ridges far above tree line, and the views just go on and on forever.  We'll take a ferry across the Yukon River, and stop along the way to see old gold dredges, rest at some scenic outlooks, and visit the colorful town of "Chicken."
  Tonight we overnight in Tok.

Day Six - KLUANE LAKE
A gem in the family of Parks Canada's national treasures, Kluane National Park and Reserve of Canada covers an area of 21,980 square kilometers. It is a land of precipitous, high mountains, immense icefields and lush valleys that yield a diverse array of plant and wildlife species and provides for a host of outdoor activities. Kluane National Park and Reserve is also home to Mount Logan (5959 m/19,545 ft), Canada's highest peak.

Our goal today will be to relax and take in all this natural beauty.  At our remote B&B, we can walk, hike, explore the shoreline and more.  We will come together in the evening to prepare our dinner in the common kitchen.

Day Seven - HAINES
After a big, delicious dinner at the B&B, we'll take the scenic drive to Haines.  We'll make stops at places such as Haines Junction, Million Dollar Falls, and Klukshu Indian Village--including a stop for lunch.  The sights are spectacular, with more creeks, rivers, lakes and mountains than you can imagine.  Tonight we'll have our final dinner together,
recalling the great memories and friendships we've made.

Day Eight - HAINES
After breakfast on your own, we'll take
an exciting raft trip down the Chilkat River through the world famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve.  This exciting adventure takes you through the site of  the world’s largest concentration of Bald Eagles!   After this, we say our farewells, and you are on your own to discover more of Alaska, or return to Juneau and continue home.
