JNU-231 - Glacier Trek - X Trek Level
3 via Helicopter (2008)
This
trek is the ultimate Alaskan adventure on ice. It includes three hours of
hiking and climbing over the rugged terrain of the glacier.
You will be transferred to the Juneau airport
where you will be given a safety briefing before taking off in your helicopter.
You'll first be fitted with all the proper gear. This adventure includes
approximately 30 minutes total of flight-seeing, to enable you to take in the
beauty of several of the nearby glaciers. The glaciers you will fly over will
depend on weather conditions, but most times you will see the Mendenhall,
Herbert and/or Lemon Glaciers, with the Taku, Norris, Bottle and Thiel Glaciers
are some of the others ones.
Upon landing your guide will teach you the basics
of glacier travel and then leads your group on an exploration of the most
pristine and remote areas of the glacier.
Opportunities for adventure photos abound as you are introduced to and practice
basic ice
climbing and rope techniques enabling you to safely climb and descend ice walls.

The amount of walking is extensive and often on steep terrain with some
technical climbing. No experience is necessary however you should be in good
physical condition and have an open mind for adventure.
Comments:
We wanted to thank you for
a wonderful experience on the Glacier trek. We felt our guides, Kevin and
Evelyn did an excellent job in making sure we had fun but a safe adventure.
It is something we will never forget. It was the highlight of our Alaskan
trip and we have been telling our friends if they ever want to do it
to contact you.

Charcky and Jonathan Melville
