This Scenic excursion combines  a 1.8 mile hike with a Scenic Float Trip. The excursion begins with a beautiful 10-mile drive along the coast to the Dyea valley, an old Gold Rush settlement now returned to nature and within the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.

On the hike, you will retrace the steps of the Gold Rush Stampeeders on the infamous Chilkoot Trail, hiking through a moss-covered northern temperate rainforest. The hike is moderately difficult over uneven terrain for the first mile, then on mostly flat ground for the remainder. At the end of the one-way hike we meet the rafts for a relaxing river trip on the tranquil Taiya River.

 The Hike & Float tour lasts about 4 hours with approximately 45 minutes total time on the river. Please wear sturdy walking shoes, and dress in layers.  Life jackets, rain gear (if necessary), rubber boots and a snack will be provided.

If hiking is not your thing, you can take the float portion only--same great trip without the Chilkoot Trail.
