A Family Friendly Tour

Get away from the crowds and on the water with marine wildlife! Our passenger van transports you from downtown Juneau to a private beach location near Amalga harbor and Yankee Cove. The drive “out the road” takes about thirty minutes and passes the Mendenhall, Herbert, and Eagle glaciers. Our short but scenic highway also offers close up views across the Inside Passage to the Chilkat Range while crossing several rivers, peat bogs, and old growth spruce-hemlock trees. It is common to see porcupine, black tail deer, bear, beaver, martin, eagles, ravens, and much more.

After getting outfitted in gear, you pull away from the sand/gravel beach in a tandem kayak. Fresh water pouring into the coastline from our glaciers and rain creates a sea curtain that is the perfect environment for krill and phytoplankton populations. Humpback Whales will stay in our area throughout the summer feeding on the local biomass before heading to Hawaii or Baja. We often encounter the majestic humpback during the paddle. In addition to our main attraction we also regularly see seals, sea lion, porpoise, sea birds, and sometimes Orca.

Rain or shine, this is quite simply the finest half-day kayak trip you will find. Certified guides lead an entertaining coast wilderness route that is limited to twelve participants. You need only bring your camera and an appetite for adventure because we outfit you with all equipment and gear, healthy snack, and beverage. Join us locals for a true Alaska experience!
